Grid filter based on multiple columns

Hello!

I have an input element with a value (e.g. ‘asd’) and I need to filter out those grid rows not having ‘asd’ in any (or some) of their columns. In other words, I need a filter which walked through multiple columns of a single row with OR condition.

The jqx.filter.addfilter seems to only work for one column and I probably need a custom filter. Or should I rather apply filtering on the data source?

Yes, I’ve read the API. My point is – the API doesn’t seem to support filtering based on multiple columns’ values, i.e. you can only add a filter to one column at a time:

$(“#jqxgrid”).jqxGrid(‘addfilter’, ‘firstname’, filtergroup);

You can add 1 filter group to 1 column. The filter group may have one or multiple filters. You can also call the addfilter method to add another filter group to another column.

Which means I can’t make the following type of queries with the API:

where col1=’asd’ OR col2=’asd’

I just wanted to make sure I got this rights. Thank you!

The relation between a filter group and another filter group is specified by the filter group’s “operator” field. By default it is ‘and’. However, ‘or’ is supported, too.
