Hello,
I have a custom theme that I created using Theme Builder (which is great by the way). Now I need to make changes to this theme. Is it possible to edit a theme that was created in theme builder previously?
If not, do you have any recommendations on how to do it another way. I don’t know CSS very well and am afraid I will break what I already have.. and I don’t want to have to start over from scratch.
Thanks for your help.

That is unfortunately not possible through the Theme Builder. A theme created with the theme builder can be further edited only manually by making CSS modifications.

It can take a long time to make a theme, and my fear is that with a new version of jqwidgets, we’ll need to create a new theme for new widgets to be themed.

For now, changes in the Theme Builder are not planned. In addition, when we release a new widget, we will most probably use the common styles which we use for all widgets so your theme will continue to work even with new widgets.

Still, once a theme is generated, if you want to make adjustments you have to directly edit the resultant CSS. Surely you understand that users (like me) would rather use the GUI to pick colors and preview. After making my first attempt at a theme 2 days ago I’m still reluctant to close the theme editor browser window because I know I’m not done with the theme. I’t hard for me to imagine that it’s that difficult to allow users to paste a produced theme into an editable field to initialize the GUI.
If you are thinking about making any changes to the Themebuilder, I would really like to see the preview pane at the same time as the GUI for changing css values. You don’t see the immediate results when changing a value in the Settings tab. Unless you’re very familiar with the terms you call various controls, it’s not easy to see exactly what changed when you have to switch from the Settings to the Preview tab. I find myself having to set a value to some horrible color like magenta or lime green, then go view it in the Preview tab to see exactly what changed, then go back to Settings to try the real value I want, then going back to the Preview tab. Most people have monitors big enough to see these side-by-side these days.November 11, 2013 at 4:52 am Can I edit in theme builder a custom theme that was created using theme builder #32361Hi jimg,
The “Preview” works exactly as it is designed and that is something that we would not change.

The inability to import an existing theme into the theme builder severely limits its usefulness. Also, displaying the editor and the preview at the same time would be very helpful.

The next version of the Theme Builder will include Save/Load settings. In addition, the Preview would be displayed on the same pane where the Settings are.

There is no planned new version. The current version has all the necessary features to build a theme or customize an existing one.
