auto complete with large json data without using remoteAutoComplete

hi everyone, i just have some questions with using combobox

1. is there a way to make the autocomplete faster for large json data without using remoteAutoComplete

2. the remoteAutoComplete clear the data when clear the text, is there any way to return all the data when the text is cleared?

Hi ryan,

1. For large data, remoteAutoComplete is suggested.
2. That depends on how you make the data requests and what data returns the server depending on the requests. If you look at the sample: http://www.jqwidgets.com/jquery-widgets-demo/demos/jqxcombobox/remotesearch.htm?web, you will see that the ComboBox in remoteAutoComplete mode makes server requests on every key press through the dataAdapter and what the server returns, that is displayed in the widget.

I see that this was a good example but as the entry is cleared all the data is lost, for example i type the “new york”, when i clear the text, all the data will be lost.
i needed the data to retain so that i can optionally search by entering record or i can just select like a dropdown

Hi ryan,

That depends on what data is returned by the server when the entered string in the ComboBox field is an empty string.
